If you’re a tennis fan, then I have the perfect app for you. As you know, Wimbledon is currently going on, and if you can’t get away from the office to see the matches, this app will make it a lot easier to keep up on what’s going on with your favorite players.

As you can see from the picture, the app has many different ways to keep you updated. There’s a news section, a section that gives scores of matches that are finished and the ones that are currently going on, a schedule, video and photos, player profiles, and many more things! The app even has a place where you can listen to live Wimbledon Radio.  Also, if you’re a big enough tennis fan to make the trip to England, the app offers some extra tips and knowledge to use while you’re there.

The app is available at the app store for free- so go download it now!

Posted by iPHi under Apple Related, Applications, Iphone News on Saturday Jan 1, 2011

A man that goes by “personalbeerrobot” on YouTube has just put up a video of a homemade iPhone app and fridge that will launch your choice of drink right to where you’re sitting. As you can see on the video, the refrigerator has a webcam on it that you can control with your iPhone. It allows you to point the fridge in the right direction to shoot you your drink. Also with the app you can choose what kind of drink you want. Sounds pretty awesome to me!

Posted by iPHi under Apple Related, Applications, Iphone News on Thursday Nov 25, 2010

BugMath is a new app available at the app store to help teach your kids basic math skills that they may be having trouble with. The app was developed in Singapore, where their math curriculum has consistently ranked in the top three in the curricula worldwide. The app uses the same principles that are taught in the classrooms.

Yvong Foong is the CEO of Zixxe Pte. Ltd., which is the parent company of the brand that came up with this app, TotsMobile. She stated that, “BugMath approaches mathematics from different angles – particularly through a story that engages and the systematic practice of math skills through the ease of repetition. The goal is to boost kids’ confidence while having fun!”

The whole time kids are using the app, they will be playing as Ug-ug, a friendly alien that crash-landed on planet Aliennz, which is completely inhabited by bugs. Kids can help Ug-ug escape the bugs by playing the games and getting the questions right.

BugMath has 5 fun games your kids can play- Bug Attack, Counting Game, Big and Small, Plus and Minus Bugs, and Matching. The app is for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad and runs on iOS 4.1 or later. BugMath is $1.99 and is available in the app store under the Education section.

Here are a couple apps that can make your Christmas shopping a little easier than it was last year. The first one is called ScanLife. This app changes the camera on your iPhone to a barcode scanner. You can then scan the barcodes of items and compare their price at the store to their price on amazon.com.  The app then takes the price of the item and shows the prices from others stores, as shown on milo.com. Coupons.com is also checked to see if there are better prices available to you.  It is available in the app store for free.

The other app that will help you with your Christmas shopping is called Black Friday. With this app, you can look and see items that will more than likely be on sale for the upcoming holidays. Black Friday gets you ahead of other shoppers because it has information that many people have to wait to see until they get their newspapers. This app is free, as well.

Both apps are good ways to help you relax a little during your holiday shopping, so go download them today! They’re free, so why not?

There is a great iPhone app from BeenVerified.com that has been very popular lately that allows you to see information about local registered sex offenders. When you use this app, you can see sex offenders’ names, their addresses how far away from you they live, and their offense(s). It’s not the first app of its kind but it is the first to have an augmented reality feature. The augmented reality feature allows you to hold your iPhone up and see the addresses of registered sex offenders in whichever direction you turn your iPhone. The information that is provided to you from the augmented reality feature is shown to you on a Google map. The app only works on iPhones 3G and 4 running iOS4. It is $1.99 and five percent of all proceeds will be donated to the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN).

Breast Cancer iPhone App

Posted by iPHi under Apple Related, Applications, Iphone News on Wednesday Oct 6, 2010

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  What better way to be aware than to have an app on your iPhone that reminds you to do your routine checks?

The iBreastCheck for iPhone was designed to better women’s understanding of and give them information about the disease. It allows the user to set an alert to do routine examinations. Dr. Sarah Rawlings, the head of policy at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said, “While most breast cancers are in women aged over 50, a woman can develop the disease at any time so it is vital that all women are breast aware.”

A survey done by Breakthrough Breast Cancer showed that nearly half of the women who were questioned did not examine themselves on a regular basis. Also, according to the survey, 53% of women didn’t know that drinking alcohol can increase their risk of developing breast cancer, 47% didn’t think gaining weight will increase the risk, and lastly, 44% didn’t know they could reduce their chances of getting the disease by exercising regularly.

You can download the iBreastCheck iPhone application for free from either the iBreastCheck website or from iTunes.
