If you have been wanting to buy an unlocked iPhone, you don’t have to be sneaky to do it anymore. Apple is now offering unlocked iPhone 4s from their website and stores. A 16GB iPhone 4 will cost you $649 and a 32 GB iPhone 4 will cost you $749. For some, the price might be a deal-breaker, but for those of you who travel internationally quite often, this may be a great purchase. If you travel out of the country often, you will be able to use this iPhone by switching the SIM card to a service provider available in the country you’re in, which means you’ll pay less than you would with a regular iPhone 4 running on AT&T or Verizon.
If you do choose to get an unlocked iPhone 4, make sure you get the best iPhone insurance available with Worth Ave. Group!
There will be two iPhone 4s aboard the space shuttle orbiter Atlantis when it lifts off from the Kennedy Space Center in July. The astronauts will be using the iPhone 4s as ways to conduct a few experiments. Odyssey Space Research created an app, called SpaceLab for iOS, specifically for this mission. The following experiments will be performed:
Sensor Calibration: This will help the astronauts calibrate the iPhone 4′s camera, accelerometer, and gyroscope. It does this by taking pictures of a QR code. By doing this, astronauts can take the information they obtain and use it for an autocalibration function for future flights.
Limb Tracker: With this experiment, the astronauts will use the camera on the iPhone 4 to take pictures of the curvature of the Earth. With these pictures, they can then calculate how far above the Earth’s surface they are.
State Acquisition: Astronauts can use this to figure out just where they are in space by taking pictures of the Earth and comparing those pictures to coastline models from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Lifecycle Flight Instrumentation: This last experiment will help determine how well the iPhone will function after the space flight by measuring the amount of radiation exposure.
We’ll find out how all of these experiments work soon- the launch date for Atlantis is July 8th.
Apple has recently been awarded several world records for both the iPhone 4 and the App Store. Here’s what was awarded by The Guiness Book of World Records 2011 Gamers Edition. The fastest selling portable gaming system is the iPhone 4. According to Guiness, the first-day sales of the iPhone 4 was an estimated 1.5 million units. In comparison, the PSP sold only 200,000 units and the Nintendo DS only sold 600,000 units the first day they were available.
The most popular application marketplace, the largest downloadable video game store, and largest launch line-up of any gaming system is the Apple App Store. The App Store had over 6.5 billion downloads and nearly 260,000 apps available for download- which makes it the most popular downloadable app store in the world. Out of all these apps, nearly 40,000 of them were games, making the App Store the largest video game download store in the world. The last award the app store received, largest launch line-up of any gaming system, was determined when the App Store launched. It had over 500 apps when it launched, and 145 of those were games- which won the App Store the award.
In an article I found on the website All Things Digital (www.allthingsd.com) Apple sheds a little light on why there was a delay in releasing the white iPhone 4. Here is a piece from that article:
“It was challenging,” Apple senior vice president Phil Schiller said during a joint interview with CEO Steve Jobs. “It’s not as simple as making something white. There’s a lot more that goes into both the material science of it–how it holds up over time…but also in how it all works with the sensors.”

PCMag.com just came out with an article stating the AT&T iPhone drops more calls than the Verizon iPhone. The article does mention that Verizon customers and AT&T customers are both very satisfied with their iPhones but the biggest difference is the fact that the AT&T iPhone drops more calls. Last June, the iPhone 4 was released. The white iPhone 4 was delayed a few times due to some problems that Apple never clearly stated. Some thought the problems were with the white paint having an effect on the camera when the flash was being used. There have been rumors all over the internet lately about the white iPhone 4 finally being released, and just a few days ago, an executive from Apple may have confirmed this rumor. Phillip Schiller, Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, stated on his Twitter account “the white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!).”
I’d say that’s a pretty good hint that we’re going to see the white iPhone soon. What do you think?
Griffin Technology has just released a new case for the iPhone 4 and the iPod Touch 4th generation. It’s called the Survivor case and it has been tested to meet or exceed the US Department of Defense Standard. It features a shatter-proof polycarbonate frame wrapped in shock-absorbing silicone, a built-in screen protector, and hinged plugs to seal the Dock Connector, headphone port, hold switch, ring/silent switch and volume controls, and camera. Lastly, it has a belt clip that doubles as a stand.
It’s built to withstand any condition and has been tested very well so there’s not much (maybe nothing) you can do it break it. The Survivor case is available in black, olive, black and pink, and white and black. The case for the iPhone 4 sells for $49.99 and the case for the iPod Touch 4th generation is $39.99 on the Griffin website.
Today the Verizon iPhone 4 became available! For all you new Verizon iPhone 4 users you better take a close look at your insurance options to insure your iPhone 4. They provide worldwide replacement cost coverage. If you file a claim they will send you money to repair your iPhone or to buy a new one. For all of this they will charge you less than $7 a month and if you file a claim your deductible will be just $50!
