The car company Nissan has come up with a new case, the “Nissan Scratch Shield,” that will repair any scratches to the glass on your iPhone 4 or 4S. All you have to do is put the case on your iPhone and the scratches will vanish.
Nissan actually is using the same technology on this case as they do in the cars they produce. They coat the case with a kind of paint that can “heal” itself when damaged, call polyrotaxane. The chemical structure of the paint can go back into its original form in as little as an hour, or up to a week, depending on the how severe the damage to the paint is. When the paint is going back to its original form, it actually fills in the scratches on your iPhone and makes them disappear.
Unfortunately, this case is only available as a prototype right now. Hopefully we’ll see this case in the future!
One of the most exciting new features on the iPad 2 was the Smart Cover. It was a stand and a protector for the newest Apple product. Well, yet another KickStarter project is turning heads, making this cover possible for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.
They have just come out with the TidyTilt, which is very similar to the iPad Smart Cover. It attaches to your iPhone and can be rolled up to prop up your iPhone in portrait or landscape orientation. It looks just the same as the Smart Cover, as well.
If you pledge $19 to get this project started, you’ll more than likely be able to gets your hands on one of these someday soon- the TidyTilt has already met its $10,000 funding goal with over three weeks left to collect pledges.

A new app for the iPhone allows you to take better photos at night. It’s called NightCap and it actually changes the amount of exposure time when taking a photo with your iPhone. The default exposure time for your iPhone’s camera is just 1/20 of a second. NightCap changes this to a full second so more light can reach the camera’s photo sensors.
NightCap is available now from the iTunes store for $0.99. It will work on iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, and iPod Touch 4th Generation and requires iOS 5.0 or higher.

There will be two iPhone 4s aboard the space shuttle orbiter Atlantis when it lifts off from the Kennedy Space Center in July. The astronauts will be using the iPhone 4s as ways to conduct a few experiments. Odyssey Space Research created an app, called SpaceLab for iOS, specifically for this mission. The following experiments will be performed:
Sensor Calibration: This will help the astronauts calibrate the iPhone 4′s camera, accelerometer, and gyroscope. It does this by taking pictures of a QR code. By doing this, astronauts can take the information they obtain and use it for an autocalibration function for future flights.
Limb Tracker: With this experiment, the astronauts will use the camera on the iPhone 4 to take pictures of the curvature of the Earth. With these pictures, they can then calculate how far above the Earth’s surface they are.
State Acquisition: Astronauts can use this to figure out just where they are in space by taking pictures of the Earth and comparing those pictures to coastline models from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
Lifecycle Flight Instrumentation: This last experiment will help determine how well the iPhone will function after the space flight by measuring the amount of radiation exposure.
We’ll find out how all of these experiments work soon- the launch date for Atlantis is July 8th.
Apple has recently been awarded several world records for both the iPhone 4 and the App Store. Here’s what was awarded by The Guiness Book of World Records 2011 Gamers Edition. The fastest selling portable gaming system is the iPhone 4. According to Guiness, the first-day sales of the iPhone 4 was an estimated 1.5 million units. In comparison, the PSP sold only 200,000 units and the Nintendo DS only sold 600,000 units the first day they were available.
The most popular application marketplace, the largest downloadable video game store, and largest launch line-up of any gaming system is the Apple App Store. The App Store had over 6.5 billion downloads and nearly 260,000 apps available for download- which makes it the most popular downloadable app store in the world. Out of all these apps, nearly 40,000 of them were games, making the App Store the largest video game download store in the world. The last award the app store received, largest launch line-up of any gaming system, was determined when the App Store launched. It had over 500 apps when it launched, and 145 of those were games- which won the App Store the award.
