Wireless Charging for the iPhone 5

I’ve heard lots of iPhone 5 rumors, but wireless charging is definitely a new one. A new Apple patent shows that wireless charging may be something that is a possibility for the iPhone 5.

When I say “wireless charging,” I don’t mean the wireless charging devices that are on the market today, I mean real, wireless charging. Apple’s patent shows that charging technology could be built into computers, allowing charging for any devices that are within a certain radius of the computer. In the patent, Apple talks about near field magnetic resonance (NFMR) output technology and using it to charge devices that are within a one meter range of the computer.

Apple also included in the patent a solution for those who have older computers, but still want to use this technology. They are planning on building special dongles that will plug into a USB port, and voilĂ , you have NFMR technology to charge your wireless devices.
