According to a new analyst report, Apple may give away the iPhone 3GS to customers who purchase a new two-year service contract. Mike Abramsky with RBC Capital Markets wrote in a research note that this move is expected from Apple because of consumers who are seeking low-budget choices for cell phones. Abramsky predicted the move will also increase the iPhone’s market share against the Android-based smartphones. Even though the iPhone is one of the most popular phones today, Google’s Android OS has become more popular recently due to the use of the system on smartphones such as Motorola, Samsung, and HTC.

This year’s Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held next Monday, June 6th. Apple is expected to launch some new products this year. One product is called iCloud- but no one knows much about it yet. It seems that iCloud may be some type of expansion of Apple’s MobileMe product.
Two more products that are expected to launch are iOS5, the next generation of Apple’s mobile software, and also Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, the eighth version of Mac’s operating system.
Here’s hoping Apple goes ahead and releases the iPhone 5!

Even though all the other iPhones have been released in June, the iPhone 5 may be different. Due to the iPhone 4 going onto the Verizon network, the iPhone 5 may be delayed until around September. Also, the recent earthquake in Japan is said to have an impact on the production of the Apple products, which could be another reason for the delay.
According to the MacRumors website, “Apple has informed us that they do not plan to release the iPhone in the June to July time frame, though there will be a newer version in the future. Unfortunately, we have not been given a release time for the new phone. We will release this information on our web site when it is available to us.”
Some think the iPhone 5 will be produced for a release during the holidays of 2011 or early 2012. I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Last June, the iPhone 4 was released. The white iPhone 4 was delayed a few times due to some problems that Apple never clearly stated. Some thought the problems were with the white paint having an effect on the camera when the flash was being used. There have been rumors all over the internet lately about the white iPhone 4 finally being released, and just a few days ago, an executive from Apple may have confirmed this rumor. Phillip Schiller, Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, stated on his Twitter account “the white iPhone will be available this spring (and it is a beauty!).”
I’d say that’s a pretty good hint that we’re going to see the white iPhone soon. What do you think?
