The iPhone 5 is Here!

Posted by iPHi under Uncategorized on Tuesday Oct 2, 2012

As most of you probably know, the most recent buzz lately is the iPhone that Apple has just released. The iPhone 5 is Apple’s newest creation and it boasts a larger screen and is thinner than the previous iPhone models. There are many other new things on the iPhone:

-A6 Chip: The newest A6 chips is smaller, but twice as fast as the A5 chip in the iPhone 4S.

-8MP iSight Camera: The camera on the iPhone 5 has the same resolution as the one on the iPhone 4S, but now has a “Panorama” option that allows you to take a panorama shot with your phone.

-Earbuds: Instead of keeping the same earbuds that have been used previously, Apple has redesigned the earbuds that come with the iPhone 5. They are no longer round, but “ear-shaped,” as Apple says. They fit into the ear better to provide better sound quality.

-Video: The iPhone 5 has the ability to take a photo while recording in 1080p HD video.

-Passbook: Passbook is a new built-in app that is preloaded on the phone when you buy it. With passbook, you can keep “all your gift cards, coupons, passes, and tickets organized and at the ready,” according to Apple.

-Phone Calls: You can ignore, screen, or answer phone calls. According to the Apple website, “[w]ith iPhone, you can decline an incoming call by automatically replying with a text message. Set a time- or location-based callback reminder. Or turn on Do Not Disturb. It sends calls straight to voicemail. Unless they’re from someone you’ve specified as important — like your wife, boss, or best friend.”

-FaceTime: With the iPhone 5, FaceTime is no longer limited to only when you have a WiFi connection. Now it’s available to use anytime- with WiFi or your cellular connection.

Is this an iPhone 5 Cable?

Posted by iPHi under Uncategorized on Friday Aug 24, 2012

There have been many rumors swirling around the iPhone 5 lately, most of which are pertaining to the screen size or release date. Another consistent rumor is that the new iPhone 5 will have a smaller port in the bottom of the phone to plug the charging cable into. The cable in this picture seems to be an Apple product, and if it is, this is proof that the new iPhone will have a “mini dock” charging port. It is very clear that the end of this charging cable is much smaller than what has been used with the previous versions of the iPhone. I guess we’ll see soon enough if this rumor is true or not!

Pictures of Possible iPhone 5

Posted by iPHi under Apple Related, iPhone 5, Iphone News on Monday Jun 4, 2012

Could this be a leaked picture of the iPhone 5? Many different websites and blogs claim that it is since the rumor has been that the newest iPhone is going to have a bigger, 4″+ screen. I think this could be a definite possibility because Apple, Inc. hasn’t changed the screen size of their iPhones since they were first produced in 2007.

Posted by iPHi under Apple Related, Iphone News on Saturday Apr 14, 2012

The KickStarter project called Juice Tank has gotten off to a head start, thanks to online funding from some supporters. It was originally supposed to be finished around the end of the year, but is now expected to have the case finished sometime this summer.

The Juice Tank is something new that will keep your phone charged- instead of just being a battery pack, it actually allows you to plug your phone right into an outlet. As you can see from the picture, two prongs come out of the back of the case so you can charge your phone.

The makers of the Juice Tank plan on selling the case for around $70 when it is completely finished. I’d buy one- what about you?

GLAS.t Protects your iPhone

Posted by iPHi under Apple Related, Iphone News on Sunday Apr 1, 2012

Screen protectors are great for keeping minor scratches off of the screen of your iPhone, but that’s about all they’re good for. This is where the GLAS.t comes in. The GLAS.t is a screen protector for your iPhone, but it is actually made of a thin layer of tempered glass.

This thin (.4 mm) layer of glass fits on your iPhone with a layer of strong silicone adhesive. It will protect your iPhone screen from much more than minor scratches- some tests have even used knives and keys to show just how tough the glass is. The glass is chemically-treated and reinforced for shock absorption. If you drop your phone and the glass cover does happen to break, it will break into tiny non-sharp pieces for extra safety. Since this happens, the chances of actually breaking the screen on your iPhone is very slim. The GLAS.t also has an oleophobic coating to prevent fingerprints and to make it easier to clean.

The price tag on this product is surprisingly low, considering the average price of a two-pack of screen protectors is around $20. You can purchase the GLAS.t here for only $27.99!

The New Apple iPad is Here

Posted by iPHi under Apple Related, Tablets on Friday Mar 16, 2012

Apple has just released the newest iPad. It has many new features- a few are explained below.

  • Improved Retina Display: The iPad 3 has four times more pixels than does the iPad 2, making the Retina Display even more jaw-dropping than before. It now has a 2048 x 1536 resolution- a MILLION more pixels than an HDTV. Pretty amazing, huh?
  • iSight Camera: The iPad 3 has a 5 MP camera that can take brilliant pictures or shoot 1080p video. According to the Apple website, “With an ƒ/2.4 aperture and a five-element lens, it captures light efficiently to produce a sharper overall image. And the hybrid infrared filter — typically reserved for expensive SLR cameras — keeps out harmful IR light for more accurate, uniform colors.”
  • iOS 5, iCloud, and Dictation: The new iPad still has all these great features!

The video below shows the new iPad- check it out!
